Summary: pioneering Navy officer who was believed to be the first Asian-American female U.S. Navy officer and the Navy's first female gunnery officer during World War II, but who later worked for U.S. Navy Intelligence, the Library of Congress, and the National Security Agency after rising to the rank of lieutenant and was one of the nation's oldest living Korean-Americans born in the U.S., and whose parents were among the first Koreans to immigrate to the U.S. arriving in 1902.
